On July 25-27, 2019, the 2nd International Discussion Meeting on Chemistry and Technology for Combustion Application has been successfully held in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Science. This meeting focuses on "Chemistry and Technology for Combustion Application". The main objective of this meeting is to strengthen the interaction among the international scientists’ working in the field of combustion chemistry and combustion application technology, also the academic and industrial research as well as the front development in combustion chemistry and combustion application technology were presented.
Prof. Marina Braun-Unkhoff, WANG Xiaohan, ZHANG Yang, Guillaume Dayma, WANG Qiang, ZHOU Chongwen, TANG Chenglong, and several other well-known experts were invited. The alliance between giants was push the development of this field and lead the front of combustion chemistry and combustion application technology. This meeting was supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Science and Technology of China.
Prof. Marina Braun-Unkoff from German Aerospace Center (DLR) presented the investigation of combustion properties of alternative fuels. She summarized the recent researches with respect to the gasoline-n-butanol blends, and gave good suggestions on the further research of aviation fuels and the reaction kinetic models. Prof. WU Lingnan from Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (IET) gave a presentation about experimental and kinetic study on the low temperature oxidation of pyridine as a representative of fuel-N-compounds. Prof. ZHANG Yang from Tsinghua University reported the formation and stabilization of a DME/air premixed cool flame. Prof. ZHOU Chongwen from Beihang University reported the comprehensive chemical kinetic model development for 1,3-butadiene oxidation. Prof. WANG Qiang from University of Science and Technology presented the flame lift-off and blow-out in reduced pressure and cross flows. Prof. Guillaume Dayma from the National Center of scientific research Orleans gave a lecture entitled with “Kinetic modeling of synthetic paraffinic kerosene using a flexible kinetic mechanism”. Prof. TANG Chenglong from Xi’an Jiaotong University introduced the research of hypergolic ignition in liquid phase: phenomenon and need for chemistry interpretation.
After the presentations, researchers had discussions in terms of PIV discussion, soot formation of aromatics, NTC effect of long chain alkanes, ignition and combustion of green materials, extinction agent, spray and heat release of liquid fuel, combustion of liquid droplet and droplet groups, cool Flame, CVD synthesis of highly active catalysis. On July 27, there was a lab tour for meeting participants in the New Laboratory in Langfang city.
