In 2016, the Institute was granted with 1 International Cooperation Project sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST); 3 key International Cooperation Projects sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS); 5 projects from the CAS "International Talent Plan", including1Outstanding Scholar Project, 2International Visiting Scholar Projects and 2 International Postdoctoral Special Projects, with total funding up to CNY 8.923 million.
The Institute has continuously promoted substantive collaboration with related laboratories of the US Department of Energy (DOE). Joint researches have been deployed on carbon capture and storage, IGCC / IGFC system integration and key technologies, and novel combustion technology with high efficiency and low-pollution. To promote the domestic aviation engine design technology, the institute has also collaborated with the Russia Klimov company in key technology R&D of a small civil turbofan engine. The cooperation will provide technical support for the independent R&D of advanced small civil turbofan engines with international commercial competitiveness.
