Research Fields

Focus on the research and development (R&D) and system integration of the advanced light-duty gas turbines, including the fundamental research of aero engine, the key technology R&D, the innovative system integration, and new product development.

Team Building

The laboratory currently has 121 employees, including 13 professors, 19 associate professors/ senior engineers, 50 graduates and 4 postdoctoral researchers.

Projects and Major Achievements

In 2021, more than 20 national, provincial scientific research projects have been approved, including 1 basic strengthening project, 3 Natural Science Foundation Projects, and 9 major special basic research projects on aero engines and gas turbine, 2 enterprise projects, etc., with a total of CNY 160 million this year.

Light-duty turbofan engine: A light-duty turbofan engine has completed 300-hour identification tests, including inlet distortion, acceleration and deceleration, and advance and platoon matching. It has been equipped with a certain type of high-speed UAV to complete multiple sorties, and has achieved small batch delivery; A light turbofan engine has completed the 150-hour endurance, intake distortion, acceleration and deceleration, intake-engine-exhaust matching tests, and flight testing, has completed, and is about to fly for the first time.

Small turbojet engine: carried out the key technical research on the high thrust small turbojet engine for supersonic UAV, developed a small turbojet engine and completed the ground performance test; completed the development of the afterburner turbojet engine, and the supersonic UAV equipped with the afterburner turbojet engine has completed supersonic flight; it has made breakthroughs in key technologies such as annular spaced central swirl oxygen-supplemented atomizing nozzles and pyrotechnic high-energy preheating, completed the high-altitude rapid start technology test verification, and realized the high-altitude rapid ignition of the engine, which provides power support for the development of the cruise system.

In terms of small turboshaft engine: based on a light turboshaft engine, the design technology of turboprop engine gearing was broken through, and the design of a light turboprop engine and the matching design with UAV has been completed; the overall matching design of high-speed motor and engine was complete and a hybrid power system based on a light turboshaft engine has been developed, which will be tested and verified soon.

In terms of fundamental research: The special basic research projects, including the “Research on Design of Advanced Centrifugal Combined Compressor”, “Modeling Method and Experimental Verification of Compressors at Low Reynolds Number” and “Ignition and Flameout Characteristics, Prediction and Boundary Widening Method under Extreme Conditions”, etc. successfully passed the milestone evaluation; achieved the second-stage scientific and technological goals and industrialization goals of the Hongguang special project “industrialization of high-performance and low-cost light aero-engine technology”; A number of projects, such as major project for instrument development of the CAS, project for repairment and purchase of the CAS, have successfully passed the acceptance.

Patents and Paper

A total of 42 research papers were published this year, of which 25 were indexed by SCI and 18 were indexed by EI; 18 patents and 3 Registration of Computer Software Copyrights were authorized.
