By the invitation of Prof. W.J. KONG, Prof. Y.G. JU, the Overseas Review Expert of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Robert Porter Patterson Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Princeton University, USA, visited Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (IET). Prof. JU gave aseminar entitled "Low Temperature Flames and Combustion Kinetics"on August19, 2015. Prof. JU presented the new results of low temperature combustion (LTC) on ignition, turbulent combustion and cool flames. The results suggest that the low temperature chemistry significant affects laminar and turbulent flame regimes. There is a huge knowledge gap in low temperature flame dynamics. With LTC, existence of distribution ignition zone, premixed and diffusion cool flames, and extended lean burn limits are observed. Furthermore, Prof. JU discussed the plasma assisted low temperature combustion. He pointed out that the radical production by plasma can activate LTC at much shorter timescale, lower pressure and temperature; and enable new flame regimes.

More than 50 researchers and PG students from seven Institutes and Universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University, etc. attended the seminar.

After the seminar, Prof. JU discussed combustion relevant issues and the collaboration withProf. Kong's group members.
