Five Key Cultivation Orientations

Cultivation I: Distributed Energy Supply Systems with Multiple Complementary Energies

Original and innovative research in the fields of distributed solar thermo-chemical power generation, combined power and cooling cogeneration gas-liquid chemical heat pump etc. have achieved preliminary progress. The research on “Integration Research on Multifunction Hybrid Solar Energy and Fossil Energy Systems” under the NSFC has been completed and passed appraisal. Our institute, as the main design organization completed the demonstration of a MW level distributed energy supply system at Guangdong Hongda Industrial Park, a demonstration engineering project of the 863 Project.

Cultivation II: Key Technologies of the New Gas Turbines

Experiments on principle verification of the gas compressor, a key component of the new principle engine, were completed at a basic level. The quantitative packing of a working medium for “New Cooling Technology from Heat Compression Conversion” was achieved, with its feasibility verified, and principle verification on test components also completed.

Cultivation III: Technology of Wind Power Utilization

Our institute developed the complete design and R&D system for large-scale wind power blades that could accommodate the features of Chinese wind resources. Commissioning was completed on the research and design of multiple models of wind power blades ranging from 38m to 50m; technological export of some models was also realized. In the meantime, groundwork research and development for technology of new generation wind power is being carried out smoothly.

Cultivation IV: Solar Thermal Application Technology

Our institute has completed the research and manufacture of a 300kW linear adjustable tracking collecting lens, and proposed a direct solar steam generator with a variable condensing area. The construction for the 300kW solar heat collecting field with variable irradiation is being built smoothly.

Cultivation V: Technology for Large-scale Storage of Air Energy

Our institute has built the world’s first 1.5 MW supercritical compressed air energy storage (CAES) system and has passed the major project acceptance of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission. Thus, the supercritical compressed air energy storage system was verified in the pilot plant tests. Meanwhile, the demonstration project of a 10MW advanced compressed air energy storage unit has been officially initiated.

In 2013, our institute applied for 82 national patents for inventions, 35 patents for utility models, 8 PCT national phase patents, and 1 software copyright and was granted 42 patents for inventions, 42 patents for utility models, 1 design patent and 1 software copyright registration. The institute published 367 papers, of which 77 were indexed by SCI, 128 indexed by EI; 3 monographs were also published/ edited.

In 2013, “Research on Chinese Urban Energy Utilization Methods” completed by our institute won the second prize of the 2012 annual Soft Science Research Achievements by the National Energy Administration (NEA).
