For the first time the Chunghua Wu Award Foundation Committee evaluated the nominees according to the selection procedure. Fei Qi, a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China, and Na Zhang, a research professor at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, are co-recipients of the first Chunghua Wu Award for outstanding youth scholar. Eleven graduate students from such seven institutions as the Tsinghua University are co-recipients of the first Chunghua Wu Award for outstanding student. The award ceremony was held at the Institute on 16 October 2008. At the relevant annual meetings of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics successively held in October and November 2008, the results of the awards were announced and some of the recipients were honored.
