American scientists visited the key Laboratory of Advanced Energy and Power

  On December 17, 2008, Dr. Deborah Seligsohn, Dr. Sarah Forbes and Dr. Weili Weng at the World Resources Institute and Dr. DLizabeth Wilson at the University of Minnesota, U.S.A. visited the key Laboratory of Advanced Energy and Power in Chinese Academy of Sciences. A bilateral seminar was held. The director of the key Laboratory of Advanced Energy and Power, Research Professor Yunhan Xiao, the deputy director of the International Cooperation Bureau in the academy, Jinghua Cao, a research professor at the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Xiaochun Li, an associate research professor, Lifeng Zhao, and other staffs in the key Laboratory of Advanced Energy and Power participated in the discussion.

  Dr. Dlizabeth Wilson and Dr. Sarah Forbes gave two invited talks, the Policy and Practice: Regulation of Carbon Capture and Sequestration and the Guidelines for Carbon Dioxide Capture, Transport, and Storage, respectively. Lifeng Zhao and Xiaochun Li presented the study progresses of CO2 Capture, Transport, and Storage in their laboratories, respectively. The two sides intensely discussed the relevant problems after reports. The American specialists showed strong interests in our research. They asked some detailed questions on the poly-generation demonstration project technically supported by the key Laboratory of Advanced Energy and Power in the tenth five years and the IGCC and poly-generation demonstration projects in the eleventh five years.

  In addition, the two sides expressed the ideas of strengthening the cooperation and expected possible joint studies in the field of CO2 capture and storage in the future.
