1. Instruments and Equipment 

A series of provisions including Administration Rule on Scientific Research Equipment of IET, Administration Methods for Physical Assets of IET as well as Administration Methods for Fixed Assets of IET have been formulated. IET has organized and completed the application for and appraisal of the establishment of the Service Center for Public Technology. 

Special funding projects for maintenance and purchasing in 2013 were applied, obtaining a total of 11.5 million CNY for R&D expenses. Laboratories for Gas Turbine, Circulating Fluidized Bed, Energy Storage, Distributed Energy and Power, Heat and Mass Transfer have been completed. A feasibility study report has been completed on “Building a platform for integrated R&D on environment-energy and power”, a project involving an area of 18,000 m2 that is intended to be constructed in the second phase of Langfang R&D Center. The construction project is supported by the NDRC and is to be initiated during the Twelfth-Five Year Plan Period. 

2. Information Network 

Thecopyright examination and authorization of all software of the Institute has been reported to CAS. The creation of a sound environment for the IR system and its operation has been finished. The Internet wiring for the registration system for laboratory and equipment has been completed. The subproject of creating a sound environment for CNGI-based IPv6 network of IET of CAS has been completed. The program of computerized management ranked No. 3 in CAS in 2011. 

3. Documentary Information 

The program, “the Construction of the Sustainable Service of Documentary Information”, undertaken by IET, has been in smooth progress. The Institute has analyzed the technological developments in aviation engine, sludge disposal, pollutant gasification, insect flight dynamics and gas turbine combustion chamber and made their research results accessible to the whole institute on the knowledge base of the Institute. The databases for conference papers of ASME from1979 to 2012 and for conference papers of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics from 2008to 2012 have been built. 

4. Academic Journals 

All the essays published in Journal of Engineering Thermophysics in 2011 are indexed by EI. In the appraisal of the science and technology journals of CAS organized by the Publishing Committee of the CAS, Journal of Engineering Thermophysics was viewed excellent on both academic quality and editing quality. All the papers published in Journal of Thermal Science (English version) in 2012 have been indexed by EI, SCI and CA. The Journal of Thermal Science was awarded China’s Excellent Academic Periodicals of International Influence in 2012. 

5. Archive Management 

The collection, organization, processing and utilization of the archive of the Institute have been completed. Meanwhile, the database of the source information in the intranet has been updated and maintained. Training courses on the current situation of archive management and how to use the digital resources of archive have been offered to part-time archivists of the Institute.
