On Aug. 15, Office of water project management, Ministry of housing and urban and rural construction, Department of housing and urban and rural construction of Zhejiang Province, organized the acceptance conference for the subject “key technologies research and engineering demonstration on reduction, harmless and comprehensive utilization of sludge from city sewage treatment plant", which is subordinate to the "eleventh-five water special project”. Prof. Hang Shijun who used to be the deputy Chief engineer of Beijing Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute led the expert group, with experts from National Research Center of City Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology, National Natural Science Fund Committee, Shanghai Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, Shanghai JiaoTong University, Beijing Drainage Co. and other units.

IET undertook the branch subject "research on incineration integration technology in circulating fluidized bed for wet sludge from city sewage treatment plant". The task included the R & D of drying and incineration integration technology of wet sludge in CFB, and the demonstration project of a 100 t/d wet sludge incineration integration circulating fluidized bed at Qige sewage treatment plant in Hangzhou. The experts and relative leaders visited the demonstration project site and carefully listened to the introduction of project construction and operation. They gave highly evaluation to the innovation and practicality of the sludge treatment integration technology, fully affirmed the contributions to the development of China's independent research and development of sludge disposal technology.

The 100 t/d wet sludge incineration integration circulating fluidized bed at Qige sewage plant applied the wet sludge circulating fluidized bed incineration technology developed by IET independently. The construction started in October 2009, and the main structure completed in April 2010, followed with commissioning phase in August the same year. The project successfully passed the 72 hour test run in April 2011. In November 2011, National Environmental Analysis and Testing Center were invited for the environmental test and thermal test of the sludge incineration integration CFB. The testing results showed that the indicators are better than the demand in "Standard of Pollution Control of MSW Incineration”, with dioxins emission 0.01ngTEQ/m3 and heavy metal leaching toxicity of fly ash far less than the limits in the "Standard of Identification of Hazardous Waste”. The test results showed that the sludge treatment capacity was 102 t/d and actual combustion efficiency was 98.56%.

The successful operation of 100 t/d wet sludge incineration integration circulating fluidized bed at Qige sewage plant provide new engineering technical support for our country's sludge disposal, whose economic benefits, environmental benefits and social benefits are remarkable.
