The First Basic Research Key Laboratory of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Settled in Dongsheng Branch, IET

With the rapid development of discipline integration, differentiation and strategic emerging industry in recent years, not only higher level of scientific research are required, but also stronger science and technology support, especially the construction of key laboratories. In order to extend the research volume, optimize the layout and make clear the levels of key laboratories, the Office of Science & Technology in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region identified 9 new key laboratories in July, 2013. Through review and investigation of applied units, some experts from the Office of Science & Technology, Inner Mongolia, agreed that the first basic research key laboratory of autonomous region, "Key Laboratory of Energy Storage and Saving Technology", settled in the Institute of Large-Scale Energy Storage Technology on July 2nd, inErdos.

As a key construction project of institute of energy storage, the key laboratory in Inner Mongolia autonomous region provided a basic and open interdisciplinary research platform for carrying out related researchs with scientific challenges and application requirements. The key laboratory mainly engaged in basic and applied basic research in energy-saving technology, distributed energy system/CCPP industrial supercritical mass air energy storage, and energy technology strategy and development planning, reaching the international leading level. With the leading technology and talent, the laboratory advantages inbasic research and innovation ability, and achieved rich creative achievements. As aiming at the international energy science and the national strategic demand,the achievements are derivative and has broad application prospect, providing support for the upgrade of industry technology in Inner Mongolia. Energy storage and saving technology, which are advanced and feasible, will gradually become an important support for the large-scale grid-connected of intermittent renewable energy, the peak shaving of power system, strong and smart grid, construction and industrial energy conservation of distributed energy system.

The process of application amassed collective wisdom and strength of the whole institute. The application materials, which were clear, structured, and reasonable, were highly praised by some leaders from relevant departments and Office of Science & Technology, Erdos. During the reviewand investigation, Prof. Tan Chunqing, director of the laboratory, gave a report on the background, research contents, achievements, goals, team construction and personnel training and operational mechanism of laboratory, and answered the questions raised by the experts. His report has been recognized and highly valued by expert group and leaders from the Office of Science & Technology.

In the future construction, the key laboratory will continue to carry out innovation in management system and operational mechanism, refine research direction, focus on features and integration of power, create conditions to attract, cultivate and support talents and create a good working and living environment for them. They will emphasis on cultivation of academic leaders, relying on the talents to improve the research and innovation ability in energy storage and saving technology, promote the development of the concerned subjectand make new contributions to industrialization of energy-saving technology.
