The Achievements of “The Research and Development of The Series of Wind Turbine Blade Which is Suitable for the Wind Resource Status of China” of Chinese Academy of Sciences Pass the Appraisal

The results appraisal meeting of “The research and development of the series of wind turbine blade which is suitable for the wind resource status of China” was held in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IET, CAS), Feb. 20th, 2012.

Academician Changxu Shi from National Science Foundation of China, Academician Weidou Ni from Tsinghua University, Academician Ruixian Cai from IET, CAS, Academician Wenrui Hu from the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Zengyuan Guo from Tsinghua University, and Academician Wenquan Tao from Xi’an Jiaotong University presented at the apprasing meeting as experts.

Professor Xiaolu Zhao from IET, CAS made a research report on the achievements of “The research and development of the series of wind turbine blade which is suitable for the wind resource status of China” from the aspects of research results, technology characteristics and the spread and application of these results. This project taked the lead in the establishment of the advanced blade research and development platform which integrated the basic theory, dynamic and structure design, load analysis, materials, process and test. It has formed a system with total independent intellectual rights, and finished the blade design, manufacture and test of the series of wind turbine blade with the specification of 1.5MW 38m/40.3m/42.8m. At the same time, this design technology has been applied in the 2.5MW and 3MW series blades.

“The research and development of the series of wind turbine blade which is suitable for the wind resource status of China” passed the appraisal. The appraisal committee regarded that these results constructed the research and development system of wind power blade with independent intellectual rights, realized the blade design and process technology output for the first time, and reached the international advanced level.
