On July 16th, 2013, Beijing Science and Technology Commission organized the acceptance in Langfang Center for the project "Research on supercritical compressed air energy storage system”, which is subordinate to the major projects of science and technology plan, Beijing. The expert group was composed of seven experts from relative research institutes, universities, electric power enterprises and industry associations. Deputy director, Wu Jianmin, director of social development office, Xing Yongjie, chief engineer, Chen Guowei, project director, Ni Ying from of Beijing Science and Technology Commission, and director of high technology development office, Cao Hongmei, associate Prof. Han Yongbin from science and technology promoting bureau, CAS, director Qin Wei, special assistant Tan Chunqing from IET, general manager Teng Shulong, deputy general manager Zhao Yan from Yuanshen energy-saving technology Ltd., Jingneng Co., attended the meeting.

The expert group firstly inspected the construction of the 1.5 MW testing system, and carried out acceptance for the operation and testing of the system. Subsequently, the group listened to the summary report from the project leader, Prof. Chen Haisheng, followed with detailed review of the acceptance materials, research results and completion indicators.

After questions and discussions, expert group agreed, "the project has made breakthrough in key technologies of super wide load compressor, multistage high load expander, high regenerative heat exchanger (cold), system integration and control. The first 1.5MW level supercritical compressed air energy storage system integrated experiment and demonstration platform was built, and the design of 10 MW supercritical compressed air energy storage system was completed. The1.5MW level supercritical compressed air energy storage system has completed operation test for 168 hours, with all indicators reaching or exceeding assessment index requirements.

During the project, 42 patents (including 17 invention patents, 5 international patents) got applied or authorized, and 4 chapters of English monograph, 40 papers (including 22 in international journals), 5 research reports were published. The expert group considered that, "the project has completed all targets and tasks in the task book and made an important breakthrough in the energy storage technology for compressed air, with all research results reaching the international advanced level."

Leaders from the Beijing Science and Technology Committee and Science and Technology Promoting Bureau, CAS, also gave fully affirmation and highly appraise for the research, and expressed that they would continuously support the relevant research and development work, further promote and help IET to obtain resources from local and enterprises, and accelerate the development and demonstration of 1.5 MW industry and 10 MW system. On behalf of IET, Director Qin Wei thanked the experts and leaders for their support and affirmation, and expressed the determination to strengthen organization and management and further improve the R&D and industrialization according to their opinions and suggestions.
