At the invitation of Center of Energy and Power, CAS, Prof. Jason Reese and his group(Dr. Mónica Oliveira and Dr. Yonghao Zhang) from University of Strathclyde visited IET on August 31st and gave academic reports on the theme of micro/nano scale fluid dynamics. Prof. Chaoqun Nie chaired the lecture, with researchers and students from IET and other institutes attending.

The lecture included three reports. Firstly, Prof. Jason Reese introduced the general situation of their university and department. Then, focusing on the technical problems and solutions the research of molecular and multi-scale flow is facing, he gave an comprehensive introduction with examples. The second report was made by Dr. Mónica Oliveira around the progress in using of micro jet flow to study the nonlinear rheological properties of non Newtonian fluids and the situation of its application in micro equipment optimization. Dr. Yonghao Zhang made the last report entitled “Using Lattice Boltzmann equation model to study droplets dynamic behaviors of jet flow in micro-channel”. His study shows that the surfactant concentration has a great effect on the behavior of droplets and the Marangoni stresses induced by laser can be used to control the droplets motion.

After the reports, researchers and students present took further discussion with three experts. Then, three experts visited Key Laboratory of Advanced Energy and Power accompanied by the relevant researchers.
