At the invitation of Laboratory of Circulating Fluidized Bed, Prof. Filip Johnsson and his group visited IET and gave a lecture titled “Examples of energy related research at Chalmers University of Technology— CO2 capture, fluidized-bed combustion and energy systems analysis” on May 10th, 2012. The lecture was chaired by Prof. Qinggang Lv. More than 60 researchers and students attended this lecture.
The theme of the lecture was the current carbon emission situation in power industry and the challenges in the carbon emission reduction. At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Filip Johnsson briefly introduced the recent research work of the Energy and Environment Department of Chalmers University of Technology. Then he gave the lecture from the following aspects: energy system analysis, biomass combustion and gasification based on circulating fluidized bed, oxy-fuel combustion and chemical looping combustion based on circulating fluidized bed, and the CO2 capture and storage technologies.
After the lecture, Prof. Filip Johnsson visited the Laboratory of Circulating Fluidized Bed accompanied by Prof. Yongjie Na, and communicated with some researchers. Prof. Qinggang Lv introduced the research directions and recent achievements of IET, especially the research progress of the Laboratory of Circulating Fluidized Bed in recent years. Prof. Filip Johnsson expressed their wish to cooperate with IET in the fields of oxy-fuel combustion, high-temperature corrosion, the mercury emission in the coal combustion industry
