At the invitation of China-USA expert cooperation program, a group of experts (Dr. David Fong, Dr. Steptimus van der Linden, Dr. William H. Kao, and David Schainker) visited IET from Mar. 29th to 30th, 2012. Deputy Director Junqiang Zhu and the Director of science and technology department Haisheng Chen met and made academic exchange with these experts. 

Prof. Steptimus van der Linden and Dr. William H. Kao come from Brulin Associates Company and University of California，Santa Cruz Extension Silicon Valley (UCSC Extension Silicon Valley), respectively. They major in the research of renewable energy and new clean energy technologies, and they have been in China many times for academic exchanges. They have rich engineering experience in compressed air energy storage (CAES) and heat storage. They made a detailed introduction of the world energy storage technologies, especially CAES. On behalf of Dr. Robert Schainker from Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), David Schainker presented the economic analysis of all the energy storage technologies. Dr. Xinjing Zhang from IET introduced the experts the research achievements of small-scale CAES technologies. Prof. Haisheng Chen introduced the general situation of IET and the research work on CAES.

On the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation work in the related fields.
