The assistant of the director of department of Business and Internationalization Strategy of Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (IHI),  L.Ohnishi and his party visited our institute on Oct. 11th, 2011. The deputy director of our institute, Lv Qinggang, warmly received the visitors.

In the past decade, IHI and our institute have made deep cooperation in the fields of energy, circulating fluidized bed boiler, waste disposal, environment controlling and so on. With the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Japanese New Energy Development Organization (NEDO), great successes have been achieved. Mr Ohnishi is an old friend of our institute; he had served as the director of Beijing office of IHI for a long time and visited our institute many times during his tenure, which contributed a lot to the two sides’ cooperation. During this visit, the two sides introduced their development in recent years and the latest research results to seek new cooperation direction. And then they discussed how to promote the new technology into the market by taking advantage of the technological superiority of our institute and the market superiority of IHI. Mr Ohnishi was very interested in the technologies of sludge disposal and biomass utilization. He immediately expressed willingness to collaborate in these fields. The two sides decided to discuss the details next month.

The business areas of IHI cover energy resources, aviation and universe, rotating machinery, industrial machinery, ship facilities and so on. After one and a half centuries of development, it has become a representative of the heavy industry in Japan and was listed among the top 500 in the world.
