Comprehensive Utilization Technology of Slack Coal Promotes Development in Xinjiang

The conference of the science and technology cooperation of  Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xinjiang was held in the national high and new technology industrial development zone of Changji, Xinjiang, Aug. 23 to 25, 2011. Qinggang Lv, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, attended the conference with his party. Deputy Director Qinggang Lv also came to an agreement with Yuanheng Energy Group on the project cooperation of comprehensive utilization of the slack coal.

The theme of this conference is to enhance communication and cooperation, to improve the innovation ability, to promote the science and technology aid for Xinjiang, and to realize enormous leap forward in development. More than 1,700 people, coming from Chinese Academy of Science, inland universities and research organizations, cities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, attended this conference. During the conference, more than 700 pieces of information about the technology cooperation demands and referrals were released, and more than 270 technology cooperation contacts were signed.

The comprehensive utilization technology of the slack coal, developed by theLaboratory of Circulating Fluidized Bed of our institute, attracted great attention of Yuanheng Energy Group. Different from the block coal (in big size) which has various usages, the slack coal has not been taken full use due to its small particle size. It was only stacked in the open air, resulting in air pollution and high risk of spontaneous combustion. This comprehensive utilization technology can make full use of the slack coal, bring considerable economic benefit to the company, and improve the environment of the coal mine area. Yuanheng Energy Group will adopt this technology to build two product lines for the comprehensive utilization of the slack coal with a total investigation of 4.5 billion RMB. One line is in Mulei County with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons and the other is in Jimusaer County with an annual capacity of 3.8 million tons.

 At the signing ceremony, Deputy Director Qinggang Lv and Chairman of the Board Xuejun Li, on behalf of our institute and Yuanheng Energy Group respectively, signed the cooperation agreement on the ceremony. It was the first signed project of this conference and attracted massive interest among the present media.

The conference of the science and technology cooperation of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xinjiang takes place biennially under the auspices of the people’s government of the Xinxiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. As an important technology supportive activity for Xinjiang, the conference has been successfully held for five times and developed into an essential platform for the communication and cooperation between Xinjiang and other organizations. It plays an important role in the development of science, technology, economic and society of Xinjiang.
