October 20th, the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IET, CAS) and Foshan Municipal government signed an agreement to co-build an R&D center on thermal conductive materials and LED thermal technology.

LED industry is one of the six emerging industries of strategic importance in Foshan. The R&D center is designed to use IET’s strength of scientific research on LED technology to help Foshan to deal with the bottleneck in the industrialized process of high-power LED. The goal of the R&D center is to develop high-quality LED products and to fully promote the industrial creativity and competiveness of Nanhai district.

Mr. SHI Erwei, the vice president of CAS and Mr. CHEN Yunxian, the secretary of Foshan Municipal Committee of CPC were also present at the meeting, and highly appraised the achievements and prospects of CAS-Foshan cooperation. Mr. Qin Wei, the director of IET, assessed the LED industrial test base and associated enterprises at Luo village in Nanhai district, where the R&D center will be located.
