Scientists from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) of US Department of Energy (DOE) visited the Center of Energy Power, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CEP, CAS) on Sep. 15.
Both sides exchanged their progress in the joint projects of advanced gasification and gas turbine, particularly that in coal syngas, coal and organism gasification, syngas cleansing, carbon capture before the burning, and hydrogen burning, and made a further arrangement for the projects.
They have agreed on issues including research facilities sharing, individual responsibility in the team, and mode of communication, hoping to achieve breakthroughs in technological innovation in the near future.
The cooperation officially started on May 11 2009 when CEP, PNNL and National Energy Technology Library (NETL) signed a memorandum of understanding, defining the joint R&D scheme of CAS-NETL-PNNL and three specific projects on carbon capture utilization and storage, advanced gasification and gas turbine, and syngas combined.
