Professor George S. Dulikravich, from Florida International University, was invited by Professor Nai-xin Chen and Professor Chao-qun Nie to give a seminar at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics on July, 12th 2010. The researchers and students in the Gas Turbine Group attended this seminar.

Professor Dulikravich presented his research achievements on inverse aerodynamic shape design and optimization problem, including theory, methodology, and case analysis. The application fields of these results cover two-dimensional aerofoil, three-dimensional aerofoil, the tip of missile, turbine flow path, stator blades, serpentine cooling passage and cooling hole of turbine. At the seminar, Professor Feng Lin introduced the current scientific research issues on which our institute is now working and the research achievements by our Gas Turbine Group. Afterward, they discussed the future joint research in detail.

This seminar made both sides familiar with the advantages and short comings of the other, laying the foundation for future joint efforts. The details of future common interest research are currently under negotiation.

Professor Dulikravich was the faulty of Mechanical and Material Engineering College at Florida International University, where he is the founder and director of Multidisciplinary Analysis, Inverse Design, Robust Optimization and Control (MAIDROC) Laboratory. He is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the international journal on Inverse Problems in Science and Engineering and an Associate Editor of seven additional journals. Professor Dulikravich is the founder, chairman and editor of the sequence of International Conferences on Inverse Design Concepts and Optimization in Engineering Sciences (ICIDES) and International Symposium on Inverse Problems, Design and Optimization (IPDO). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Mechanics, a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Professor Dulikravich has authored and co-authored over 350 technical publications in diverse fields involving computational and analytical fluid mechanics, subsonic, transonic and hypersonic aerodynamics, theoretical and computational electro-magneto-hydrodynamics, conjugate heat transfer including solidification, computational cryobiology, acceleration of iterative algorithms, computational grid generation, multi-disciplinary aero-thermo-structural inverse problems, design and constrained optimization in turbomachinery, and multi-objective optimization of chemical compositions of alloys.
