From Jun.14 to Jun.17, the 23rd international EMOS conference was held at Lausanne Federal Polytechnic University in Switzerland. Hui Hong, who comes from our institute as an associate research fellow, attended this conference. As many as 400 researchers attended the conference making this conference the most important international conference in this field in that it has the most attendees and the most papers published from the conference was founded in 1980s.

There was ten branch conference and six topic presentation in this conference. Researchers from various countries made heated discussion on key scientific topic, for example, the efficiency of energy and resource system, cost reduction, new methods of integrated system optimization and inventing and put forward new energy system etc. During the conference, not only the famous scholars in this field, but also some ordinary scholars could express their view freely, which reflected democratic and scientific philosophy. Hui Hong made a presentation on “a new system of tower solar power plants and its thermodynamic property”. This presentation gained widespread concern and won credit of the branch conference president.

After the conference, scholars from various countries visited two labs of Lausanne Federal Polytechnic University, that is, Fuel cell, Heat transfer, Mass transfer lab and 6MW cooling, heating, electrical powers supply lab. The two laboratories was founded in the middle 1980s and was jointly funded by the government, university and company. The scientific achievements the labs have achieved are all international first-class.

In addition, in response to the invitation of the conference, Hui Hong made an introduction on the preparation situation of the 2013 EMOS conference in China. The committee members of the conference gave full recognition of our job.
