On 16–20 November 2008, the 9^th International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Technologies (GHGT-9) was held in Washington DC in the USA. Theconference is funded by the USDepartment of Energy and jointly sponsored by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Greenhouse Gas R&D Program of the international energy administration (IEA GHG). More than 1400 experts and scholars from 42 countries and regions attended the conference.Research Professor Na Zhang at our Institute was invited to attend the conference and gave a talk of the integrated analyses of the thermo-dynamical economy of a combined generation system in the chemical power industry.

The GTGH series academic meetingsare currently the main international conferences in the domain of reduction of greenhouse gas emission and held in the member countriesin North America, Europe and Asia once every other year. The new topic of the conference, i.e.the CO₂ captureand storage technologies,is a key research direction in the Laboratoryof Energy Systems and Renewable Energy at our Institute.
