By December 2015, the number of postgraduate students reached 246, including 106 PhD students and 140 masters. A dynamic research team with frequent movement has been set up.
In 2015, under the support of UCAS’ summer camp program, the institute successfully organized “power, energy, environment – approach to IET” summer camp, which created new situations of the enrollment. For the enrollment in 2016, 69% of PhD candidates were master-doctor combined students and recommended students, and 70% of master’s degree candidates were recommended students. There were 31% of students coming from 985 Project Universities and 90% of students coming from 211 Project Universities in the all candidates. The quality of student resources maintains outstanding.

According to “Degree Evaluation Committee’s organizational regulations of UCAS” (made by UCAS Degree Committee, No.19〔2013〕) and “Degree Evaluation Committee’s regulations of IET” ( made by IET, No.5〔2007〕),the institute decided to established 10thdegree evaluation committee with comprehensive considerations of laboratories opinions, the vote of all the staffs with senior professional title and the agreement of Institute Affairs’ Ministry. Academician Jianzhong Xu was appointed as the chairman. Professor Haisheng Chen was appointed as the vice chairman. Professor Haigang Wang, Wenjun Kong, Yongjie Na, Jianjun Liu, Shijie Zhang, Mingming Zhang, Hongguang Jin, Yuyan Jiang and Xiulan Huai were appointed as committee members.
In 2015, the institute continued to carry forward reform for the meritocratic system of scholarship and assistantship in accordance with the unified arrangement of UCAS.Winners of the “ Excellent Student of UCAS”, “President Award”, “ZhuliYuehua Excellent PhD Award”, “Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation of Academy” and various other title awards have been selected. Our institute continued to host the selection for the “Annual Scholarship”, in which the winners account for 60% of thepostgraduate students. Besides, we also continued to implement and constantly improved the uniform “assessment for successive master-doctor program” and “mid-term assessment for PhD students” in the institute, and inspected the academic dissertations of all the students via our “inspection system of academic dissertation andacademically dishonorable behavior”, so as to further improve the cultivation quality of the postgraduates.
The number of graduates in 2015 reached 55, including 22 graduates with PhD degree and 33 graduates with master degree. The employment rate of the graduates continued to keep 100%, with major employers being: R&D institutions accounting for 31%, enterprises and public institutions accounting for 49%, higher education institutions accounting for 7%, further studying, go abroad and others accounting for 13%.
Various activities of Graduate Student Union, Graduate Student Party Branch and Youth League Committee were carried out flourishingly. In 2015, we organized a series of artistic, cultural and sports activities, as well as theme activities such as “May Fourth Youth Day”, “Teachers’ Day” and “Linking Love” voluntary service. The academic activities in the institute were widely carried out by the virtue of the platforms such as “Doctoral Forum”,“Academic Activity Month—Energy and Sustainable Development Forum of IET” and “Salvo on the Rostrum” etc. We also founded a mental-health counselor team and clarified its duties to further paying attention to the psychological and mental status of the postgraduates.
In 2015, PhD candidate Yanjuan Wang won the “CAS president Award”. 10 students of Yifei Wang et al. won the “National Scholarship”. PhD candidate Guizhi Qiu won the “ZhuliYuehua Excellent PhD Award”. PhD candidate Yanjuan Wang won the “China Sciences Group Environmental Protection Scholarship”.53 postgraduates won the “Excellent Student Award of UCAS” and 97 postgraduates won the “Annual Scholarship for Postgraduates ofIET”.
In June 2015, PhD candidate Sun Fangyuan won the first prize of excellent thesis in the “Academic Activity Month—Energy and Sustainable Development Forum of IET”.
In August 2015, the “8th Wu Zhonghua Reward Fund Accreditation Council” was hosted in the institute. Professor Xingen Lu from IET, professor Youjun Lv from Xi’an Jiaotong University and professor Hongliang Yi from Harbi Institute of Technology won the “Wu Zhonghua young scholar award”, 12 postgraduate students of Cong Guo et al., coming from IET, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Chongqing University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology and North China Electricity Power University, won the “Wu Zhonghua Excellent Student Award”, including three PhDs of IET namely Cong Guo, Wei Li, Yanjuan Wang.
