In 2013, the first platform for online submission & review of heat and mass transfer’s annual meeting was established. It has completed paper reviews in six disciplines including Engineering Thermodynamics and Energy Utilization, Aerothermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Fluid Machinery, Combustion Science and Multiphase Flow, and organized the six societies’ annual academic conferences. The participants amounted to more than 2000, with 2238 papers.
In May, the society held “Resources, Power and Scientific Energy Utilization Science and Technology Frontier Forum” in the academic hall. 13 academicians and experts gave excellent academic reports. Over 100 persons from relevant colleges, universities and scientific research institutions participated in the forum. In July, the society held the 26th International Conference on Efficiency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation and Environmental Impact of Energy Systems (ECOS2013) in Guilin. More than 300 academic papers were presented in oral presentations and posters. In order to further push forward application of Chinese solar energy technology, strengthen international cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources and establish a communication platform between numerous scientific and technical workers and enterprise
technicians, CSET, along with Chinese Renewable Energy Society and High-tech Development of Ministry of Science and Industrialization Company co-sponsored “7th Sanya International Concentrated Solar Power Forum” in August. As a unit representing ISABE, the society organized a group to attend the 21th Academic Conference of International Air Breathing Engine. Twenty one Chinese scholars attended the meeting and presented academic papers.
CSET has finished its recommendation and appraisal of the Innovation Collective for 2013. “Micro- nano scale heat transfer mechanism, single phase and phase change heat and heat transfer enhancement, and thermophysical property and new thermal theory” won the financial support of National Natural Science Foundation. CSET was responsible for studying the development strategies of the departments and disciplines of CAS, reporting their results in “Study on Development Strategy of Engineering Thermophysics and Energy Utilization Discipline”. The project was examined and accepted. The society also applied for the discipline development strategy project initiated by National Natural Science Foundation and Chinese Academy of Sciences. The project “Frontier Research into the Discipline of Engineering Thermophysics” was approved. The investigation and research reports on the Thermal Efficiency Improvement and Energy Saving, a program of strategic importance in energy, was conducted by the consultant group of experts of the “973 Program” and has been written. In addition, CSET successfully completed compiling, editing and publishing “Discipline Development Report of Engineering Thermophysics 2012-2013” for China Association of Science and Technology.
