　　On September 7 to 8, a Sino-Finland Seminar on utilization of renewable energy was smoothly held at the Royal King Hotel, Beijing. The seminar was co-sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Academy of Finland, and organized by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Rongkai Lu, the Director of the Western European Affairs in the Bureau of International Cooperation in the National Natural Science Foundation of China, relevant officials of the Academy of Finland, and other 20 experts from institutions at homeland and abroad, attended the seminar. The affiliations of attendees are the Academy of Finland, Finnish Environment Institute, Turku University, Helsinki University of Technology, University of Jyvaskyla, Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland, Chinese Wind Energy Association, Institute of Electrical Engineering and Institute of Botany in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Science and Technology, Chongqing University and Tianjin University in China.

　　At the seminar, discussions were around the utilization and development in technology in the fields of biomass, wind, solar and other renewable energies at homeland and abroad. Professors Jarmo Patanen, Jouko Korppi-Tommola, Eva-Mari Aro, Timo, and Kai Peiponen from Finland gave their wonderful talks at the seminar on utilizations and technologies of renewable energy in Europe, especially in Finland. The runners and attendees of this seminar were also pleased to have Professor Dexin He, the Secretary of the Chinese Wind Energy Association, invited to the seminar. Professor He gave us a vivid talk at the seminar on the development of technologies in wind energy resources and wind power in China. Professors Hongguang Jin and Mingming Zhang from the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics gave their talks on thermo-chemical use of solar energy and research of wind energy  at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, respectively, at the seminar.

　　On September 8, the Finnish delegation also visited the Deqingyuan eco-industrial park in Yanqing, Beijing. On the eco-industrial park, an advanced technology for biogas power generation is employed. Through the fermentation, animal waste is changed into combustible gases and used in internal combustion engines for power generation. The foreign experts has confirmed and recognized the development of renewable energy in China. The seminar was successfully ended on September 8.
