The Institute made every effort to ensure that “the retirees are provided with the opportunities to be taken care of, to study, and to enjoy themselves.” First, the Party Branch of the Retirees continued to play its key role. An information network about the retirees was built to find out and solve timely any possible problems. Second, activities such as retirees’ work show, spring outing, fun games and lectures on health were organized to enrich the retirees’ life. Third, activities including “Linking Love ” and “Help Those in Need ” were regularly held to help those who are or over 80 years old and who are living alone. Fourth, the Institute cared about the needs of the retirees and their families. The living allowances were granted in time to the family members of the deceased workers and to the jobless dependents of the employees. The Institute paid visits to those who were in hospital, sick, or in need of help, and offered condolence to dying employees and their families. Fifth, the Institute promoted the medical and health care reform for academicians. The preparatory work for making academicians covered by health insurance was completed.
In 2012, many honorary titles were conferred to the Institute due to its excellent work for the retirees, such as Advanced Collective and Advanced Individual on Family Planning in Zhongguancun Street, Excellent Carders on Family Planning in Zhongguancun Street, Advanced Collective on Reporting and Propaganda of the CAS, Advanced Collective and Advanced Individual on Free Blood Donation in Beijing and so on.
